The University project for the creation of the High Competence Center on Cybersecurity presented to the Ministry of Economic Development has been admitted to the negotiation phase to access public funding. The Competence centers will be centers of orientation and training for companies, as well as support in the implementation of innovation projects, industrial research and experimental development, as part of the Industry 4 .0.

La Sapienza makes research activities in the field of Cybersecurity available to the country system.

The University project for the creation of a high competence center on Cybersecurity presented to the Ministry of Economic Development was in fact admitted to the phase negotiation to access public funding. The initiative is coordinated by the Vice Rector for Research and Technology Transfer Teodoro Valente.

The competence centers will be guidance and training centers for businesses, as well as support in the implementation of innovation projects, industrial research and experimental development aimed at realization, by the user companies, in particular of SMEs, of new products, processes or services (or their improvement) through advanced technologies within the Industry 4 program.0.

In particular, Wisdom coordinated a partnership made up of 37 private entities, including large companies, SMEs and foundations, and 9 public research subjects (University of Rome Tor Vergata, Roma Tre University, University of Cassino, University of Tuscia, Luiss Guido Carli, University of L'Aquila, Cnr, Iss, Inail), for the definition of a Competence Center that addresses the issue of Cybersecurity not only in its general aspects, but also following three specific thematic declinations: e-health, automotive and space. The contents of the individual thematic declinations were also elaborated on the basis of a request for expression of interest sent to all department directors, in order to allow the widest participation of the Sapienza community in the initiative.

“Cyber ​​security has now become a priority at the national level – declares the rector Eugenio Gaudio – to ensure the resilience of infrastructures and protect future innovations from possible risks. Sapienza has in the Cybersecurity sector a scientific expertise linked to extremely specialized research activities developed over the years and recognized by institutional interlocutors and companies in the sector. Participation in the competition for the Competence center commits our scientific community to a project serving the country; the result obtained with admission to the negotiation phase confirms the level reached by the University in the field of IT security”.
